Fried Pork Dumplings

fried pork dumplings

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 2 cups finely shredded cabbage
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package of dumpling or wonton wrappers (about 30 wrappers)
  • Water, for sealing dumplings
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground pork, shredded cabbage, green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Assemble the Dumplings:
    • Place a dumpling wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of filling into the center of the wrapper.
    • Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the wrapper.
    • Fold the wrapper in half over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Pinch and pleat the edges together to seal tightly. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Fry the Dumplings:
    • Heat a large skillet or non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Add enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
    • Place the dumplings in the pan in a single layer, flat side down. Leave space between each dumpling to prevent sticking.
    • Fry the dumplings for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
  4. Steam and Crisp (Optional):
    • Carefully add 1/4 cup of water to the pan and immediately cover with a lid. Steam the dumplings for 3-4 minutes until the water has evaporated and the filling is cooked through.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the lid and continue to fry the dumplings uncovered for another 1-2 minutes, or until the bottoms are crisp and golden brown.
    • Transfer the fried pork dumplings to a serving plate. Serve hot with dipping sauce such as soy sauce mixed with rice vinegar, chili oil, or your favorite dumpling sauce.

Note: You can also boil or steam these dumplings if you prefer a softer texture. Adjust cooking time accordingly if using different methods. Enjoy your delicious fried pork dumplings!
