Ingredients:
For Spicy Beef:
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili paste or sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 cup snap peas or green beans
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
For Grilled Shrimp:
- 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
For Rice:
- 2 cups jasmine or basmati rice
- 4 cups water or chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Rice:
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a medium pot, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the rice and stir for 2-3 minutes until it is slightly toasted.
- Add water or chicken broth and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
2. Make the Spicy Beef:
- In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the beef slices and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, chili paste or sriracha, and sugar. Stir to coat the beef evenly.
- Add the bell pepper, onion, and snap peas or green beans. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
3. Grill the Shrimp:
- In a bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the shrimp and toss to coat evenly. Let marinate for 15-20 minutes.
- Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are opaque and cooked through.
- Serve with lemon wedges on the side.
4. Assemble the Plate:
- Serve a portion of the cooked rice on each plate.
- Top with a generous serving of spicy beef and vegetables.
- Add a side of grilled shrimp.
- Garnish with additional green onions, sesame seeds, and lemon wedges as desired.
